Yes, that's a Florida gar; it should darken once it settles in a bit.

OP - please read the stickies and take our advice...MOST of those fishes are among the most unsuitable tankmates for gars...jardini (super aggressive and will pick on the gar), clown loaches (tempting as food for the gar; their "eye-spines" can cause problems if attempted to be eaten), and flagtail (slime-suckers). would highly recommend altering the community setup there. good luck--

No sign of slime sucking from flag tail yet. jardini has yet to show any aggression. If I see any of these ill obviously alter stock.

By then it will probably be too late...

I had my gars with a 20" Jardini and they were ok, but the flag tail will for sure cause problems sooner or later. They will suck the slime coat off the gar which will lead stress and eventually death from a bacteria infection
