Alligator gar

are you serious???!!! a gator wouldnt last a year in a 155! i wouldnt keep any true gar in a 155 for life. a florida would be ok for maybe two years in it. it also depends on the footprint of the tank. wider is better.

my tank is about 2 1/2 feet wide

the tank width is very nice. what is the length...4'?
you could also look into the tropical gar they are selling on here in the buy and sell section. they are more expensive but are one of the smaller true gars. other than that i would say get a florida gar.

florida gar would look cool in there. but stay away from the gator gar idea, unless you are prepared to spend a LOT of money on a HUGE tank/pond in the next few years. gator gars grow fast, and need a lot of room. ive had my gator gar since november, she was only 2in when i got her and shes about 10-12in now. on the other hand if you have got a lot of money to put into this hobby, then go for it, gator gars are cool. :)

Could gar be kept in a 300 gallon with two motoro's and a black arowana?

I'm setting up a 180 as a growout for two motoros and a black arowana, and I would really like a gar.

But the problem is that the aro and rays would be in the 180 growout for about two years, and I afraid the gar would get way big faster then the aro and rays would...
