keep looking, even shortnose and florida gar for sale in Vietnam are only $20-$40 for a 4-6''!

I think you're going to find it hard in Australia. I'm not from there or anything, but I know unlike almost every other country with a list of species one can not have, Australia has a list of the only fish species one can sell! I'm remember seeing it before, and I'm 99% sure no gar species were on that list…

dam 1500 for a gar... lol for that much i can prob get my hands on a asian aro lol

You can definitely get them but you will pay alot for it we are very isolated here in Oz, makes it hard to get things we are not ment to have I payed $650 for 8cm spotted. An Asian arowanna will cost you at least $4000..

haha yee im awere there hard i just wish someone would pm me and hook me up vise versa with what people want i could try! get things for them

From what I have gathered, $1,000 is not an unusual price for a gar in Australia, which is unfortunate because they're overpriced at $50.

But supply and demand works in its ways... and Australia is notorious for its tough importing/exporting, so the price fits.

I have a pair of florida gars, paid 550 for one a few years back and 1300 for the other last year. One is looking like it might have a spinal injury at the moment, pretty devastated because as you know they aren't cheap and aren't easy to find. Hoping it comes good otherwise I will have to hit it with the clove oil. Wait until after Aquarama this year, usually more exotics on the market in the months that follow :)

Two aligator gars on petlink right now think it was just over a grand for the two and he wont split them up.
