Gar in the Everglades ... What species?

Just got back from south Florida. I stopped along the Tamiami Trail and saw countless gar lazily swimming in the crystal clear water. They looked like Spotted or Florida gar ... about 2' long. I noticed that most were quite dark, and a few almost a golden color. Here's a brief video.

The only ones you're going to find down there are Florida gar.

Yep. I totally moved down here for the fish. My last job was surveying fish populations and submerged aquatic vegetation in the Everglades.

those look like some nice Florida gars. hoping to move to Florida someday lol but Idk if it will ever happen.
