so i went to bed and everything was just fine in my monster tank by the way there is 1/8 glass covering on top . I woke up at 7:30 to get rdy for work happen to walk by my garage and saw something on the floor in the dark i turn the light on. It so happen to be my gar laying lifeless:eek:, so i went and got a towel and scooped him up he was dirty with dust and looked like a little blood i was sad to say the least. then he twitched i kinda jumped, then quickly ran to my sink turned the water on and ran him under it. he twitched few more time's. so i went and got one of my tubs i hold sick or hurt fish, transferred some water from the big tank started the pump and over filter and said good luck since i was 30min late for work. by the way he was upside down when i left. so now i get home at five run to the med tub and he was upright and breathing hmm a miracle:eek: is what i say, he is swimming with heavy breathing looks a little pale and eye's a little cloudy i am guessing he is fifty fifty right now. so he has salt and metafelx with lights off and i hoping for the best any advice.:(

gar breathe atmospheric oxygen so they can last a bit out of the water. you should not have ran it under the sink water because it is loaded with chloramines though. make sure it cant jump out of the temp tub and keep the water clean. salt and melafix cant hurt.

ran him under sink to clean him also my chlorine lvl's over here are very low but there a screen with clamps on the tub right now. thank for the support

I thought Melafix was fatal or at least very bad for gars...?

exile is right, do NOT medicate your gar. if you have already done so, do a wc to remove the melafix. or return the gar to the main tank. is the jardini in the main tank? the fish will likely make it if you get it out of water that has melafix in it

Same thing happened to me 2 years ago with my smallest Florida Gar, scales looked like they were falling off, eyes were cloudy, no color at all on the fish and most of the fins were gone.
Hes one of my biggist eaters in the tank right now, took three months before I was able to safely put him back in the main tank but he pulled through like a fighting champ. These things are tuff no question, just keep the water as pure as possible with loads of W/C and he should survive.
