I caught this gar in Costa Rica. Anyone know what type it is?

Looks like an aligator gar but i'm not 100%

Costa Rica? There is only one species found there, the tropical gar (Atractosteus tropicus)

There are anaecdotal statements and references saying there are Alligators (A. spatula) in Costa rica but your fish there is definitly a Tropical.

I generally only know the Spanish names; I always like hearing the English ones.

Compared to my smaller tgars they must lose a lot of color as they get older and mine seem to have stockier bodies. But it must be a tgar due to location.
