in front of my cichla tank,IL
some of my buddies told me that i should get a small gator gar or a different type a gar to go into my 210 once set up.
wat type of gar would work out in my 210gallon tank the stocking is gonna be 5 orino pbass close to 5inch, a tsn close to 5inch, a silver aro close to 8-9inch and i think a gar would look nice in that setup but i am not sure i it would work out good

if you get a gar then ditch the pbass and the TSN. pbass will stress the gar. i have seen it work with many people but sometimes it can equal disaster. and catfish just arent good tankmates for gar at all.

You'll be overloaded with the stock you have listed in no time. I would do some serious thinking/researching over what you really want in the tank. just because the fish are small now doesnt mean they'll still be in a year.

I agree (especially on the overcrowding and p-bass). However, my Florida/Spotted (which I hear is the best "beginner" gar) is doing great w/ a Parachromis loisellei, Oscar, Lima shovelnose and others, but it doesn't usually work out from what I've heard.

first you should find out if there legal because in washington there illegal but anyway
that sounds find i did it with a spotted gar and it came out fine when i did myn i had two big catfish a rtc and a redtailcat shovel noseand they never bothered him because he was on the top all the time.it was fine until my clown knife took a chunk out of his throught ,but my catfish were all ready 2 feet long in a 180 so ull be fine
with the gator in a tank that big

It only takes one bad instance for a 'high risk' tankmate to kill our badly injure the gar...trust me!

Illinois is in the native range for a few gar species. I doubt there would be any legality issues.
