I've seen alot of info on Gars jumping out of tanks, and their general hardyness. Until yesterday I thought an Arrowana was the king of power for jumping. My arrow had a few leaps that where impressive. But doing a WC the gar suddenly tweeked out.. and my 1st gar propelled himself out of the tank and onto the carpet fast and hard enough to get some impressive distance. I have never had a problem before. The only thing I can think of is our newer gar freaked, my older gar then tweeked.. and I was net and hands scrambling to catch him flopping all over the rug >.< covered in fuzz, and hair. I flopped him back into the tank. he was bungled up abit, his nose abit red but obviousely he hadn't broken his snout, and he settled into the water column well, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed he did not do any spinal damage. Today he looks like normal and was eating just fine. I know part of it was Luck, but wow these fish are indeed hardy. Just thought I'de share my lil' Gar moment
