I would just do the gars & the clown knife since they're already together and are getting along. They are getting along, right? I ask because I know that clown knifes can sometimes be hit or miss with gars due to aggression.

As for the other fishes, the oscars and arowana are incompatible due to aggression and silvery coloration, respectively. The clown loaches will become dinner for the gars and/or catfishes, so they will not work either. The catfishes might work later on once the gars are bigger, but until then they should be separate because they'll outgrow the gars in no time and then eat them. Also, peacock bass are a bad idea as well; they've been known the shred gars.

Lastly, where did you get the spotted gar?

if you put all of those fish in the 300, you are guaranteed to lose atleast the clown loaches. Eventually you will probably lose the gars to the catfish, and aros and gar generally dont mix well

I've had Aro's and Gars together for years.

I agree, the clown loaches are toast. But ultimately the red tail cat or the shovel nose cat will be the last fish. I say two years tops and my bet is on the RTC 60/40.

I'm curious though, so please post updates on this combination at least quarterly.

Edit: Do lots of water changes. What goes in must come out........

I smell a new reality show...

those cat fish will never work out for the 300G, they get too big and they grow way faster than those gar!

Ok ill keep the loaches out of the combo but what about datnoinds?

Dats can be hit or miss. The dats can spook the gars at feeding time and can be aggressive towards the gars. At the same time the gars might show aggression towards the dats. I lost 3 silver dats and 2 indo dats to gars. As well dats grow very sloew and could be outgrown very quickly depending on what size you get them at.
