gainesville ga
i have one with in with both my gar and it looks like he is nipping at his fins.

Maybe you should consider separating them....

i put the bichir in a 10g considering he is only 3" long
i just want opinions so i might be able toput him back

wait...who is nipping at who's fins, and I wouldn't be surprised if your 11" longnose eats that little bichir...and there is no such thing as a "dinosaur" bichir, I think you mean senegal!?!? Also, many people keep bichir with gar with little or no problems...and a 55 is WAY to small for just the two gar you have now. Need I continue???

i moved the bichir
and petsmart must be retarded cause it was labeled as dinosaur bichir. and the bichir nipping at the gars fins.

some individuals tend to be more aggressive than others, just one of the aspects of predatory fishes (or any animals really). i had a small senegalus that nipped at larger stingrays...so the bichir was moved within a short period of going into the tank.

petsmart is not the brightest in terms of their fish knowledge, but that is to be expected from a national chain. i'm not saying that there aren't people who do know their stuff at the store, but it's generally few and far between. the common name for senegalus bichirs in a lot of the big national chain pet stores is "dinosaur eel" or "dinosaur bichir".--

well i just said cuz demjor said there is no such thing as dinosaur bichir

he is ust explaining that a lot of LFS's mislabel their fish and are ignorant when it comes to keeping them...they are just out to make a few bucks. The fish that PetSmart labels a "dinosaur bichir" is most times the senegal bichir which is what is assumed that you have.

you will have to figure something out for him though if he cannot live with your gar b/c he cannot live in a ten gallon for very long.

yea i know
