Gar won't eat. Help!

Hey guys, I have a 24" Gar that has been gladly eating Carni Sticks for the past couple months and sometimes i'd treat it with a couple feeders every now and then. But for the past 2 weeks, It has rejected the pellets and even feeders!! I put 3 big goldfish in his tank and he just killed them and let them sink to the bottom. Any idea whats up? I'm a little worried that I'm going to see an upside down Gar in my tank

how are your water parameters?

Water tests all turn out fine, and I did a 30% water change and cleaned out the tank and filters because there was some white algae rapidly growing on the food particles on the floor from the pellets he didnt eat.

I keep the tank at 78 degrees and have light on him for 12 hours a day

You have pellets on the gloor that he did not eat? hmmm. Did you check ammonia? Nitrite?

Well the pellets usually float but they break apart and fall to the floor if he doesnt eat them. I scoop out the ones the he doesnt eat but i obviously cant get all of it if it breaks apart. Nitrite and Nitrate levels are safe and so are Ammonia levels.

Hmmmmand you see no parasites or weird behavior so far?

how often do you feed goldfish? Do you quarentine them? do you gut stuff them before feeding them to the gar?

Nope, no weird behavior other than the usual getting spooked and darting across the tank. I feed them like once every other week, and no i don't quarantine them, i put acclimate them then let them swim around alive for him to catch.
