i have seen many threads with tanks in the garage. I was wondering what prep work is involved with setting up such a tank???

i currently live in utah where the summers are hot and the winters are cold. the garage does not get as bad as outside, but it is also not climate controlled like inside. we do park our cars in it, as well as use it for storage.

what about heating, and cooling and all that

here is a link to the yearly weather

thanks

You will DEFINITELY have to heat it in the winter, unless you are going for cold water fish, and summer, you will need to keep that tank cool, especially if you have cold water fish. The larger the tank the better and insulating it on at least three sides is a huge help in maintaining temp.
Other wise, setup is straight forward. In a garage tank, aesthetics aren't as important so wires and tubing showing doesn't really matter. Just level the tank, provide adequate filtration and lighting and you are good to go. Keep the ambient temp inside the garage in the back of your mind and take appropriate steps to that note.
Good luck. I love garage tanks.
