So my friend calls up the other day and says "dude i built this pond but the water is green all the time"

so well yea he does not have any filtration setup and he is kind of a newbie to the wonderful world of fishes in general :)

Anyways here is a snap of the pond.

Its roughly 8ft x 6ft x 4ft at the maximum.

Planning on getting this:
Claritec 3000UV Pressure Filter
http://www.pondone.co.uk/filtration.php

It has a 9W UV with four layers of sponge and a layer of bioceramics with backwash option as well.

Also planning to add another 12W of UV separately.

Will that suffice to keep the water marginally clear at least? :)

Oh and seeing where we are from Sunlight is direct and hot :D But no need of a heater setup! Gotta love living in India lol :headbang2

So please do let me know as i sure aint an expert on ponds and the level of filtration they need.

Oh and also suggest some fishes for this pond as well please :)

thnanks

Just the one UV setup should work on that small of a pond. I just recently installed a undergravel filter using lava rock as the 'substrate' on my 100gallon (maybe) pond. With the x2 16" x 16" panels and a smallish air pump, this cleared the water in 2 days. Crystal clear. There are currently no fish in this pond, the raccoons took care of that..., but I routinely dump tank water into the pond to restock beneficial bacteria. I think this helps alot in clearing out the algae and such...

Now if I can find a way to cheaply remove pine needles after the recent wind storm, that would be VERY helpful!
