If I grab a pot from my garden and wash it off, how long do I have to boil it before I can put it in my tank??

No reason to boil it. As long as it is terra cotta and it has not been used, put it in your tank. I would think boiling it may break it.
If anything just run it under some hot tap water for a minute and you'll be good

+1 if its dirty you might just wanna scrub it a little but if not it should be ok to just rinse it and throw it in. Id still scrub it though, but i definetly like to stay on the safer side

It is a little dirty, I rinsed it really good and boiled it...its cooling off now without cracking...I hope it doesnt give me a spike in ammonia...thanks for the help everyone

I'm resistant to grab something outside and put it in my tank without bleach and extensive soaking. Clay absorbs moisture and gardens are often sprayed with pesticides. If your garden has never been sprayed, you may be fine.

Buy new pots. Theyre very cheap actually, i use to keep live plants in clay pots in my tiled tank.
