I have been watching YT videos about people using Garlic Guard so i started reading reviews a lot of people seem to use it when they fish have ICH and they claim it clears it right up.(SUS) to me. But anyways last night i tried feeding my fish fresh cut up shrimp one fish ran and hid from the shrimp 1 other paid it no mind the big RD ate it up as soon as he found them.
I would like to use some garlic guard for every day feeding to help promote better health and encourage better feeding as they are not super aggressive eaters.

Is this something you guys would recommend. Pros/Cons.

Thanks

In a healthy, established and well-maintained aquarium with non-stressed otherwise-healthy fish, ich often clears up all by itself, with no special action taken. I think that's the case here. It's very difficult to believe that feeding food containing garlic would have any effect whatsoever on an external parasite like ich. Sounds like BS.

I have no idea if it has any kind of medicinal qualities at all; what little I have read about it seems to imply that it's just an appetite stimulant.

I bought a bottle of it a year or two back as I apparently had twenty bucks in my pocket that needed to belong to someone else. Using it as directed produced no noticeable difference in anything and 75% of the jug is still on the remedy shelf.

Buy yourself a sandwich and hand the change to a stranger. It'll have the same effect.

I too have an unused bottle in the fridge. It used to be recommended as as dietetic supplement. Have never seen any evidence, and from the fridge, its effect does not get to my fish.

Very informative and well presented articles RD 👍🏼
Seems the”scientific” evidence from actual studies confirms that even though a hobbyist may not “see” the actual effect of garlic on their fish, especially in an otherwise healthy aquatic environment, the “proof” of benefits are scientifically measurable.
Some “natural therapies” just just aren’t gonna have the “kick” to treat acute illness in our aquatic species but in terms of overall health and preventative treatment it seems the answers are in the science 🤷🏻‍♂️
Now having said all that, to each his/her own!

The guy I bought my rays off used it to introduce new foods. He didn’t claim any health benefits…
