I am about to be attempting to switch my polypterus tank over to massivore pellets as a primary food source. I have been told to dip the pellets in garlic prior to feeding if they do not want to eat the pellets. I attempted to feed cichlid sinking pellets to my two ornatipinnis for the last two nights with no success.

Here's the question:

Should I buy Kent's Garlic Xtreme ( http://www.kentmarine.com/assets/003/21544_600w600h.png ) or just minced/soaked garlic ( http://i.huffpost.com/gadgets/slideshows/344221/slide_344221_3585020_free.jpg )?

When i kept predators i had good success with Seachems Garlic Guard(sp). They also make another called Entice. I don't see a problem with the Kent product.

If you have bloodworms on hand you could also try soaking the pellets in that.

Problem is, the garlic products that are made specifically for aquariums are extremely expensive compared to your standard minced garlic. Is there any real reason not to just buy the latter?

I imagine you'll get the same results from just mincing garlic gloves yourself. Better for the wallet as well.

My pellet of choice is NLS Thera-A and garlic is one of the ingredients. They STINK and the fish love it.

What about the garlic I linked to? It comes suspended in some sort of liquid (?). That's what I have at my house right now.

First time i see garlic like that...i would check the label. If its just minced garlic in water then go for it.
