I never kept gars before but was wondering if you are able to keep them with Fronts since they are more piecefull of the african's. and also due to their size wouldnt become a meal.

i would like to get a couple of these type gars myself..post pics if u get them!

Anybody able to tell me where there are pics of this combination ? I had never heard of it.

fronts are african cichlids?

well the rule of thumb is that gars generally dont mix with cichlids, or a bunch of cichlids for that matter, due to the cichlids aggression. however im aware african cichlids aren't as aggressive as the S.A ones...not a good combo still IMO...

my 9-10 inch front does great with four of my gar. i just put in a large piece of driftwood for him to establish territory in and all goes great. ive never even seen him attack a gar...just bluffs from time to time.

Frontosa are a Lake Tanganyikan cichlid species. Many Afr. cichlids are easily as aggressive as any American cichlid (such as Melanochromis sp). That said, Fronts are the Peacock bass of the Rifts lakes...very mellow but with big mouths lol.
