i can get 2 needlenose gars for 15$ each i was wondering if they were a suitable match for a clown knife and royal knife approxiamtely the same length mixed in a 150g tank.
other possible tank mates might include 2 tinfoil barbs 8" , 4 irradecent sharks 10-14"
well what do you guys think im into the exotic tropical fish for now. but i may start a 10 gallon live rock tank soon.

A needlenose is NOT a gar. It's the same species as the saltwater needlefish. Scientific name is Xenentodon cancila

yup yup. interesting fish nonoe the less. very quick and fun to watch hunt.

It should be fine. needlenose r top fish n knives are bottom.

a knife fish won't restrict where it gets its food from in the levels of an aquarium...if the fish are small enough to be eaten, like i would imagine the needles would eventually be compared to the knife, they will consume them. not a good combo IMO--

ps-- i have, however, kept several species of true gar (family Lepisosteidae) with knife fish (clowns primarily) with no problems as long as they are of similar size or cannot be swallowed.

they are FW but the lfs says they are needlenose gars that could just be a common name i am not sure but thanks for all your mixed opinions i will get a few and see how they do my clown (rip royal) dosent even like feeders so they may last a while.
