Gars in California???

i got a question. Are all species of Gars illegal in California? please help. i've been looking around this part of the forum for awhile. havent seen anything on the sticky post either.

yep all gars are illegal. False gars, ie needle nose gars are not. But arent nearly as monster

thanks. all TRUE gars are illegal in cali. i looked at the link u posted primitive fish. it just shows the species and family genus. so can u help me find the close relative that are legal in cali. Where can i find the Pike Characins, Asian, amazonian Needlefish and Pikeheads. Thanks again.

There are no close relatives that are legal. Bowfin are also Illegal and that is a close as you get..(and thats a long shot)

I have no Idea where to find Pike characins, belonids or pikeheads in Cali. I live in Michigan. good luck though....
