My new florida gar has white stringy poo (it has some green in it but its mainly white), is this a sign of parasites? and if it is what should i treat it with? He is about 7 inches right now.

Nothing yet sadly.. I just got him Wednesday and put him in a quarantine tank for a while with some medicine as a precaution before sticking him in my tank and so i recently put him in my tank with my silver aro and senegal bichir when i noticed the white string poop starting to come out. Should I take him out and put him back in the quarantine tank?

i'm not sure if you should remove him from his current tank or if there's anything wrong at all, do you have an idea of its previous diet? regarding medication, don't use any. good water, increased temp and add some salt will do your gar good. if it is indeed a parasite infection, do some searching on what to do, i personally don't know. wait for e_americanus or perun to chime in on this, they'll be able to help you out.

I would feed him some feeder minnows/goldfish come morning so that way you can:

1. Get him to eat

2. Hopefully "push all that white stuff out of him"

I would feed him feeders for a day or 2 then that should go away, if not then I would be concerned. Get some feeders and keep us updated.

i asked the seller i found online here what he was feeding before he sent him and he said live guppies. i recently put about 24 feeders in the tank but they were gone within a few minutes. Not even sure if the gar ate any. Do you know how much salt i should at per 10 gallons so it would still have livable conditions for my 10 inch aro 8 inch senegal and snail?

LOL, where do you think they went?
What you can do next time you feed him is... When you put in the feeders, try waiting around a little bit and you can see what happens to them :D

It probably has something to do with its diet. I've seen this twice in my gator gar and each time was after eating a fl gar. It had white/grey poo for a few days and then went back to normal.

So do you think he ate another gar before he was shipped? And also his tail is torn now, do you think it could be the bichir doing it or the arowana? They all ignore each other and I have never seen any aggravation between any of them before.
