Gars with delhezi bichir?

I have a chance to pick up a 4.5" delhezi bichir to keep with my 12" florida gar. Is this a good combo? Will the gar try to eat the small bichir. Will the bichir when grown be too aggressive for the gar?

Your thoughts and experiences are appreciated.



Tank is 4'x2'x2'.

As far as temperment, they should get along fine. I would be a little worried about the bichir being a snack at that size though

Yeah i agree that at that size it may very well end up as a snack,can you not grow it up a bit or get a bigger?

Gars and bichirs make great tankmates, however that size difference is a little more than I would be comfortable with. I don't think the gar would try to eat the bichir, but you never know. It would be better to get a larger bichir, or let it put on another inch or two in another tank first.

Thank you for the replies. I have a 65g that the bichir can grow in for a while. I'm gonna get me a delhezi bichir!

I kept 4~6" dels and albino senes with my 14" gar I had awhile back for a month with no problems.
