you can put a needle nose in a 125

Florida/Spotted or tropical will do fine in a 180g. and you can probably house 3 or 4 comfortably. BTW there is no such thing as a needle nose gar. they are needlefish but they arent true gars if true gars are what your interested in.

I've got mine in a 170G that's 18" wide and IMO it's too small (my FL is pushing 15"). I think even a 180G at 2' wide is bare bare minimum; I'm in the market for at least a 30" wide tank over the winter, which I think will house him for life.

yes width is always better.
