I haven't handled him for quite some time, because I was sick of getting bitten and musked. Yesterday I decided he has more potential than sitting on a shelf, so I took him out... and it was GREAT!! He didn't strike or musk once, and he even allowed me to carry him into the living room and he didn't freak out when he got near my dad. He is eating frozen pinkies, which admittedly are a bit over the 150% the width of the Snake's body, but because eating pinkies are so good for Garters, and it's so hard to get them to take pinkies, I figure, why fix what isn't broken.

Im surprised it bit you :o I have only been struck at once by a wild garter.. I get musked alot though... But it is small and the bigger ones are more docile IMO

thats so funny you mentioned it stayed calm around your dad! when my dad walks around me when i have my animals out they become extremely un easy and usually hiss and puff up lol.

I had 2 albine checkered garters a while back and they were absolutly TINY. someone gave me them in a big bunch of snakes I bought and they ate pinkies apparently! No f-ing way they ate pinkies, they were seriously like boot laces. I even tried insects and earthworms but nothing atall, tried a pinky press aswell but they still died.

Yours looks like a good size though! lol
 
armaggedox(or whatever) sounds like you got them from a crooked breeder, unfortunetaly. The best foods for stubborn Garters are chopped earthworms or live fish. Good luck if you every try again.

funny part of this is iv never gotten musked by these catching them in the wild. olny bitten. lol.

i would love it if the boa i might be getting soon did that. :evil_lol:
