Hello,

i just got home to find my silver arowana (about 18-20") swimming somewhat lethargically with some strange bubbles or what appears to be a gas underneath the skin on his face, forming what look like sliver worts.
I ran a water test and everything was fine, but Nitrates were at ~100PPM. Yikes.

I did a 50% water change and they're back down to ~45PPM.

the other fish in the 185 gallon tank is a 12" motoro ray, who is happy and behaving normally.

Any tips? I will post pics in about a hour.

FYI: I am cycling a 600 Gallon stock tank for these guys. It's almost done and I'm considering moving the arowana tonight, but im not sure if I should because it would stress him out so much.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

His eyes are clearer and he's a little more active now.
sorry for the bad pic. NO3 = 50ppm or so

Any Thoughts? Could it be like Nitrogen Poisoning after a Scubadiving accident?

Update: I moved him to the stock tank. He looks good despite a valiant effort to escape onto the floor.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Wish us luck!

He looks much better this morning. I am cautiously optimistic.
Stock Tank:
81*F
pH: 7.3
NH3: 0
NO2: 0
NO3: ~15

My measurement estimation was wrong too, he's a solid 26" and weighs about 4lbs.
