gater gar

please tell me if i have aquired a allagater gar please. i bought this one ,but i use to catch these all the time. some one told me that these were not in my area. sorry 4 the pics they are from my cell.

my bad the pics r way to small. the gar has an orange tail with black spots , kinda short snout , few markings on the side.

Looks like a shortnose gar Lepisosteus platostomus

Gator gar have short, wide snouts. By the way? whats eating that mouse in your avatar?

It is quite impossible to tell what species it is from those pics what I can make out though is the fact it is not a Gator nor any other Atractosteus species. The fins are wrong and in one pic it clearly shows the snout not being correct when blown up in Photoshop.

I'm fairly confident myself it is a shortnosed going on the information contained here particulary this

When combined with what the pics seem to be showing me Shortnosed is the best fit.

sounds like a shortnose or florida gar aliggator gars dont have any markings and i have a florida that has an orange tail with faint markings spotteds have the bold markings
