I don't know, but Alligators are native to NC along the southern coast. Some states will not allow the sale of native reptiles. Check your State Fish & Game website for the laws in your area.

sorry, but no american alligators live in north carolina, way too cold in winter for them. they don't even live in georgia. Would be legal to sell. I live in florida and know a guy that sells dwarf caiman as well as nile crocs as pairs.

You obviously have never been to the NC coast. Or the SC coast. Or the Georgia coast.

In fact, where the USS North Carolina battleship is moored, they had a pretty famous alligator living there when I was a kid (about 25 years ago). Since then I've seen plenty of gators here in NC.

Don't believe me? How about the US Fish & Wildlife Service?

Maybe you're thinking of the American Corcodile. They don't live outside Florida.

Im thinking that he is not selling a gator.
Gators and caimans are two different things. So it is odd that he would say caiman in addition to alligator.

But without pictures we cant be sure.
