I just bought a GATF from a LFS in the DC area. He is about 5-6". Ive put rosey reds in the tank with him but I can tell if he is eating. Does anyone have any feeding advice?:irked:

First week or second, he's not going to pig out and eat aggressive.
Give him time and keep count of rosy reds you put in.

Is it hard to get GATF off of live food? The LFS in my area is lett vittatus go for $ 100 and GATF go for $ 195.

Gatf is rare but still That to much for both kinds your over paying. I over paid for my goliath $250 at 5" 4 year ago. Look around for better price.

Hi

I've kept both Goliath and Vittatus ATF's. Without doubt, Goliaths are much harder to wean onto non live (I never had any problems with Vittatus taking non live). I currently have a Goliath (@5") eating flake and Hikari cichlid gold pellets.

You have to be brave and refuse to feed live for a while (although I did feed live to start as the Goliath was quite skinny @ 4" which is fairly typical from what I've seen).

One tip I would give you is to slightly pre soak any pellets you offer. My Goliath would try them then spit them out if they weren't slighly softend.

For the record, I paid £130 for my Goliath. Although the best I've paid was £70, and that was a perfect Goliath that I lost in Febuary due to a power cut.

African tiger fish is skittish, so sometimes, it won't eat when you're near the tank.

Try lights off and leave them to it.
