Took home a gatf from a friend's 20g at 4", about ten days ago.

He's currently in a 40g breeder,
But I wanted to give him a bigger tank for the next 8+ months at least.

Thoughts on just a 75g for that time?
Bigger?

He would be sharing the grow out space with

7" Delhezi x2
6" Endlicheri
2" silver dollars x3

Maybe my 8" L191 pleco if he doesn't do good with my main tanks stock.

My main concern with grow out tanks for atf that are too small or dont have enough current could lead to a bent snout.....if your looking for a tank size for at least the next 8 months i would start out with at least a 125.....a 180 would be nice with the 2 foot width tho.........

So at least for the next few months then.
I own a 125g but it's stocked, I can empty it down the road,
But what size would you say the gatf needs the 125? Hopefully I can use a 90 until he's 6" ?

Okay so for a Tigerfish is depth or run more important? I have a 60x18x24 width depth height 125g,

Is this the right shape or do they want the 120 wide?

At 4" does he already need the 125g or do you think I can use a 90g for 4"-6" / 3 months time?

I appreciate the replies, and especially respect your opinions on the matter sandnukka. Saw your 600 thread.. That bites.

Ended up clearing out the 120g,
Running 3 good canisters with a 1500gph hydor at 78*F for the mean sardine.

he's in with 3 silver dollars of similar size, 4 poly's between 6"-7", and an 8" L191 pleco

Height isn't too important at this early stage, width and Length are always appreciated for ATF's. Your tankmate seems fine for them to grow with as well. Water flow is probably the most important factor as mine stay hovering 80% of the time.
