Gator Gar Question

It seems to me there are two types of gator gars I often see.

1st pic - chunkier body, bigger belly, very dark brown(almost black), bigger in size
2nd pic - slenderer boby, light brown to dark brown, smaller in size

Do they belong to two geographically separate groups?

Do you mean they have exactly the same gene and a baby gator gar can grow up to be either type depending on the environment and food?

Umm yeah that is what I'm saying.. A key part I do not feel like writing a book right now is which is right for the fish and which is wrong for the fish. It should be rather obvious though...
