Gator gar

How fast do alligator gars grow? And how big do they normally get in captivity? There is a 21" at my lfs in a 3 foot tank. I want to adopt him but if he's still gonna grow 6 plus feet I dont think I can get it.

do a search, it'll tell you everything you need to expect on growth rates, average captive sizes etc. what facilities do you have? a full grown captive gator gar can attain sizes of up to 5 ft...

Unless you have an empty tank you can dedicate to him, don't get him. He will literally eat anything you put him in a tank with (or at least try to).

If given good food, clean water, and enough space, they can get over 4 feet in captivity.

Mine eats a quarter kilo of prawns A DAY and is only two foot long. Growth is an inch every two weeks.
