I have a tank for my dwarf caimen.... As you can imagine, filtration for these tanks could be kind of tricky without buying an expensive filter. I built an overflow for my 150 gal. tank back when I had used it for my oscars. I was wondering if I could change this overflow around a little in order to make it work for a lower water level in the caimen tank...

I put up a very rough sketch, if anyone truly knows whether or not it will work can let me know and why....
Thanks for you help guys.

I would drill the bottom or near the bottom if possible... That's a lot of height to get the water over the top...

It is possible to do this as shown. Someone just made an overflow for a turtle tank in much the same manner.

that was me,

Things to remember,
1.the tee controls the water hieght (thanks pharoh)
2.your flow will be in the "horizontal flow" chart in the PVC flow charts. this means your flow will be dramtically lower then the vertical flow. You may end up needing multiple over flows.
3. Your suction will also be lower. This makes for alot crappier cleaning. Im going to play with some things tonight to try to over come this. Ill post up on my thread how it goes.

I'd just use a couple internal filters...I like the old style Fluvals. When mine was big enough, I just use a canister.

I had one of those before. He was a lot of fun. He loved shrimp. I had wood floors upstairs and he'd try running but couldn't go anywhere. It was very entertaining.
