The lfs recently stocked a gaucha looking like this

which they believed might be an orientalis?

Questions are -

Can they, what ever it is, be housed with a pair of bleheri?

Assuming its a gaucha variant, does all gaucha have kind of the same keeping conditions? I read somewhere that they come from many different parts of asia

And finaly, could you keep channa with in dense rock/wood-cover or do they need plants? My plants just wont stay green

thanks // Mattias

HI,

orientalis dont have pelvic fins (same as bleheri).
Gachua (thats the right spelling) have pelvic fins.

Dont mix tropical (most gachua and all orientalis) with subtropcical (bleheri,...) channa.
Best is NO mixing at all.

Most gachua thrive in most waters. 24°C,lots of plants, wood caves, etc will be preferred.

Cheers.

Going only on stone wood fallen leaves can look great and can be great for them, but u have to do it right.
