I went to a local N. KY boat/fishing store that was having their big spring clearance and stocked up.
I found a place last year below a dam on the Ohio. The water was literally boiling with gar and hybrid bass eating minced and dazed fish as they came out of the flood gates.

The only issue was the casting distance. My Colorado spinning rods weren't up to the task. I picked up a larger spinning reel(great deal) and some Rapala X-Rap Walk 13(topwater) for $5 a piece and some suspending divers. A 9 Foot Tica Surf Rod is on backorder with Cabelas.

When this snow is gone...Game on.

i gotta get a new rod and all this year havent been fishing in along time looks like your set

I have a bunch of Rods and reels, but nothing heavy enough to really put some distance on 3/4oz or larger lures.

With all this talk, I guess I'll have to try the Ohio as well. Any decent shore fishing spots near Louisville? Distance isn't much of a problem as I have my pier rod from NY that flinds 3 ounces easily...

Druu, I have done most all of my fishing in the Ohio from the bank on the Indiana side at the Falls of Ohio State Park. AWESOME fishing there! right now the river is very high, infact within a foot of flood levels so were I usually fish is a good 10-12 feet under water right now. :irked:

Next time you are down and if the river is down I will take you out there and garuntee you some good fish. Next month or two the paddlefish should start spawning and its fun to catch those monsters!
