my cousins day gecko escaped from it's tank yesterday and was running one the walls and ceiling then it jumped onto me so I tried to grab it and its tail just practically fell off, I know they loose their tails for defence but my question is will it fully grow back and if it does will it be the same colour as the rest of it's body?

Yes it will grow and it will be of the same color. but inicialy it will be of a kind of blueisch dark. In the mean time make chure the tail stays clean and disinfect it with dilute betadine(one part betadine/2 parts water) dont hesitate in seeing a vet. Good luck
It should grow back, although it will most likely not look normal. But the other advice he gave is right on.In therms of color in the long run will, but it can look kind of deformed. But if the gecko is well fed and has UV, then he´s not gonna a have a prob at allhamato_yoshii;1748732; said:

The new tail is going to be shorter than the original and a little darker. Quick little fellows aren't they?
