Hi I just picked up a green spotted scat to keep in fresh water, or close to it. I run a teaspoon per 5 gallons of salt in my 120gallon tank. He is about 2 inches long. I have seen other people on here with larger skats in fresh water.

I am starting to think I made a mistake, they didn't give me enough water to drip integrate him so I added water cup by cup to the bag and then put him in the actual tank.

I like the look of these fish but I cannot go full brackish, should I try and take him back ? Should I see what happens for now? Grow him out some and then trade him in?

thanks let me know.

They grow huge & are very messy eaters & poop machines. Love plants. Prefer high-end BW. Without it, I've seen many with serious skin diseases, like columnarius.

Go brackish or take him back. Adults live in high-brackish to marine water. I have also seen many people keep them in full fresh water, but it doesn't make it the right thing to do.
