I'm planning to make some fish food for my arowana. My wife bought some slatwater fish from the market. but they're too small for my arowana. planning to use unflavored gellatin to bind them, does gellatin have any bad effect on fish? been reading making diy food with unflavored gellatin.

i use it as a binder for my own blends of food.. so far everything is growing great and having no known health issues..

thicker is better when it comes to big fish since they tend to chew/mouth the food a bit before swollowing it..

I use Knox gelatin for my goldfish, loaches and snails. Avoid using brands that add sucrose in them. High sugar will not do your fish any favor with their health later on although using it in moderation is fine. Knox does not come cheap but you can use it on daily basis without issues. I add sardines on my gel food recipes as well.

its in many homemade fish recipes-

do you know what gelatin is made of? collgen (spelling) of animals skin and bones so its basically not going to hurt them.

i make loach food from clam spinach and bunch of other stuff mixed in with gelatin.... i tend to find tons of gooey stuff in my wet/dry .... i dunno if thats fiber from spinach or undigested gelatin ... i just wanted to point that out...
