Gender differences in juvenile delhezi?

Can someone help me ... I would like to get a baby picture of gender differences in Delhezi. I've read the anal fin in males is edged with black, wich makes sexing posible even at a fairly early juvenile stage.
Tomorrow I'm going to select a new Delhezi and I would like to select a female. I would really appreciate information.

Neither of my bichirs had much difference in their anal fins at 5-6". Definitely no black edge on the males fin. It wasn't until they put on considerable weight and another inch or so that I could tell for sure that one was male.

I bought two possible females. Length of the fish is about 16 cm. Here is a picture from another Delhezi. What do you think is it female?

Female, now is there any truth to this black trimmed anal fin? I have a del with the black trimmed, but the size of the fin leads me to female.

Maybe something true. I have two male Delhezi. They both anal fin edges were black at a very young age when the length was about 10-12cm. In this case it was true. Probably not all be able to identify the sex in this way.

I took a close look at my del pair last night. Both male and female have black edges on their fins.

My female doesnt have a black edge.. but I think its more random than anything and not a safe way to know for sure the sex before a certain size..

I did however figure her female at 4-5" with help from people here, and so far she still looks female going on 10"

I've actually never heard of the black edge thing either. I have 4 Delhezi (2 WC and 2 CB) and I have 1 Male out of the bunch. He doesn't have the black edge, but he is the shyest one out of the bunch. He's always hiding.
