Currently keeping two Ancistrus (think they're also known as bristlenoses)
Will upload pics as soon as i can!
Would like help sexing them is possible, i have sexed the first as a male going by online info but eh i could be wrong :p

Keeping them in a 10g tank with a betta at 26 celcius - high end of their optimum temp i believe?

Any suggestions for a varied diet? Currently im feeding them Hikari Algae wafers to suppliment in tank algae - which is going well as far as i can see, both are eating a good portion.
**they also have a piece of drift wood which they suck on throughout the day, some say this is a source of food/fiber for them, can anybody verify this please?

*Heres to hoping they make it through their first month!

i read that males are territorial also - If both of mine DID prove to be males, do you think it'd be necessary to trade one in to my LFS to prevent them harming each other?
my smallest bristlenose is an inch 1.5 inches (the one im not sure of sex wise) i dont sup pose its possible to tell if it should have grown visible bristles by now if it were a male?

thanks in advance

Why not a 10g?
Theres just the two of them and a betta o.o
And whilst they are so small there is huge ammounts of space - im sure i will have upgraded to a 30g before they near full size.
I have placed in some cucumber and mushrooms so far - they dont seem to like the mushroom, but ive come home to find a good bit of the cucumber slices gone. I will try another vegetable with them tomorrow evening as they are polishing off the cucumber tonight and will get an algae wafer.

I've noticed a cobweb/cotton like substance at the bottom of the tank, some near the driftwood, and the other over and near the mushroom. Can anybody tell me what this is? Degenerating food?

Yeah i did my 50% weekly water change last night, got out the phlegm like stuff that was covering the gravel in places-
Now i used the Gravel Siphon when doing the water change as i aim to clean the gravel atleast once a week - Should i still be aiming to get it all done or should i leave some alone for the BN's to get?

Leave some? I assume you mean not cleaning all the gravel. If there is still some fungus around get that first.

Rightio well a few days have gone, the mucus like stuff around the area's i place food for my plecos gone, as i have done another water change with gravel vacuuming. They're growing nice and quick so i am a happy camper - as are they i hope :p
