Hi,

I was searching about how to keep Acestrorhynchus species and so few who keep this species. I don't know anything about this species, some said that this fish is hard to keep, mostly when they are stop eating.
Please let me know who still keep this fish until now or ever keep before. With pics or some advice please.

Thanks

Hi, i have kept Acestrorhyncus falcirostris and falcatus before. Both proved to be easy.

I currently only have 2 falcatus remaining.

I keep them acidic waters, around 6 ph, tropical temps of 25 - 28. I feed my remaining 2 falcatus feeders but am trying to cnvert them to frozen food. Idk about not eating, my experience was they ate after settling down in the tank, which took 2 - 3 days.

@Auranti : hi how long do you kept them? What about grow rate?

Hi, the A falcatus has been with me for a month or so. I never really noticed the growth rate but they seem to have gotten abit bigger, maybe 0.5 - 1" more. Never really kept track, so i cant help you there much, sorry!

I have four of them three yellow tail and one red tail. I find them to be fairly easily fish and were really not very hard to pellet train. I have had the four for about a year now.

The single cuda is islaine, the pair are minmus. The pics are thumbnails click'um.

I've had 6 different species - they were fun for awhile but I prefer large fish. The largest I've had were 8" yellowtails but they were slim not very robust. I also got tired of trying to ween them which never happened. For the past few years I've stuck with an ode and a brycon dentex - both are 12"+ and very robust - also weened overnite. Just plain gave up on lil' cudas - on that note I've also owned a great Barracuda in my salty - trust me there ain't nothin' like the real thing and the real thing weened overnite.
