I know evolution plays a roll in giving a fish the specs it needs to catch its grind...
So while oscars are comparably sluggish, sizable cichlids with superior all-round vision and effective due to their large suction mouths, other cichlids like dempseys and dovii are beady-eyed chasers with teeth to lock-in prey.
then they got those streamlined cichlids with an elongated/streamlined mouth and body like jags and pikes... are these fish -due to appearance- supposedly more predatory?
they take on that barracuda-like style, so im assuming they were slightly more built for the kill than rounder cichlids? do they still have Pythagoras (sp) teeth in their throats to act as a fail-safe like other cichlids?
and how do haps fit into the picture???
