Alright I kind of feel like an idiot asking this question but i want to do my best to make sure that all of my fish live so i just set up a 10 gallon in my dorm i'm using a filter media that's already been in a cycled tank as well as i filled 1/4 of the tank with cycled water i plan on doing at least a 25% water change each week. How long should i keep up the water changes until i can make it 2 weeks?

If you're starting with used filter media, you should be good to add fish right away. The frequency of your water changes will be determined by how heavily stocked your tank is. When nitrates start building up, you change the water. Most people like to keep it under 40ppm, but under 20ppm would be even better.

i have 3 (forgot the name of the species of tetra) 4 neon tetras 3 glowlight tetras a red tailed cory a beta fish a dwarf guarami and 2 gold fish

Definately get rid of the goldfish. They will outgrow your tank soon, and often do better in unheated tanks (you do have a heater, right?) Gouramis can be aggressive, so keep an eye on it. Also, corys are schooling fish, and shouldn't be kept alone. I would suggest getting more, but then your tank would definately be overstocked (you will be pushing it with just the tetras and gourami).

Also, a lot of people don't recommend keeping bettas with other fish. The betta could end up bullying the tankmates, or the tankmates could start taking chunks of it's fins.

Get rid of the goldfish and watch aggresion between the gourami and betta.

Bettas can make good tank mates if: There are no more then one male bettas (Or if the tank is huge, you can have multiple) There are no fin nippers, and there are no fish with long, flowing fins, like male guppies
