I’m usually wary of anything off brand when it comes to any of my equipment but when I went to look for replacement pads for my FX6 canisters I noticed they sell generics for significantly less. On the one hand I’m thinking they’re just foam pads so how bad can the generic be but on the other hand I really don’t want to find out he hard way if they end up disintegrating after two weeks.

I have been running the generics from ebay for some time now. Not only are they working great, but I have a feeling they may end up lasting longer than the original fluvals. They seem to be slightly stiffer. For the substantial savings I would recommend.

FWIW- I have not yet used the generics for the FX6, but a few years I bought from eBay a 12 pack of the generics for the AC500/110. I have used most already, all in current use.

It doesn't matter what you buy, whether it's hobby related or otherwise. If it needs replacements from time to time the manufacturers will always tell you to use their own brand replacements, otherwise everyone on earth will die, lol. It's a con, just to line their own pockets. And many a time, as mentioned, the generics are just as good, or even better, but more importantly, usually cheaper too!

Cut your own with filter sheets they come in a large square. Usually sell them for ponds, much cheaper!
