I have heard they grow fairly slow. Maybe a quarter inch per month.

thats about right, I been stuffing my lil Altis and Red Head Taps with Hikari Cichlid Gold, frozen brine & worms for almost a month now and they are about 1/4" bigger. I love how they always beggin for food. My daughter kisses the tank and they all swin over to kiss her back hehe. Cool fish we love em

last month during our last heatwave my geo tank (without a heater) hovered around 87 degrees. I was worried and almost ran off and bought a chiller. My geos appeared fine, the increased temp must of increased their metabolism cause they were more active and ate more. Now heatwave is over and temp is back to 80 all is good in the neighborhood

Bryant probably between 78-84 is a common range, of course they can handle cooler and warmer temps but I wouldn't suggest it for very long periods.

What is the temp range for these guys? What's the lowest and highest? I'm thinking about unplugging the heater...

Unlike gymnogeos, geos do need warm water so dont unplug the heater. Temps in the high 70s to low 80s

My geos all prefer 83+. Any lower and they get HITH.

And aside from an occasional quick growth spurt, they take forever to grow. I always recommend that people overstock with them if purchased young, as it'll be a while before you need to thin the herd. Plus then you can pick and choose the most colorful ones.
