Well I have eggs! My brasilenisis and black port acara bred today I guess. I didn't even know this could happen. Maybe it is just a false breeding but they are acting like a pair and everything. They laid them on a piece of driftwood. I think they are only a couple min/hours old because the little breeding tube thing is still out on the acara. They eggs are an orangish color right now with a couple being kind of clear. So could this be a true breeding? There are a TON of eggs too. I'll keep you updated.

that would be a cool fish keep us posted

certainly is an odd combo, but I wouldn't say it's impossible. geo's and acaras are about as closely related as many of the species crossed into some flowerhorns. this would make for an interesting fish. definitely keep us updated as to wether or not they hatch.

Oh yea and the funny thing about it is that this all happened when the filter broke! We woke up this morning and saw the filter was busted on the way to school and when we got home to fix the filter we had eggs. I would take some pictures but the water is kinda cloudy right now and would look like crap. I'll take some a little later.

Congratulations! I think they are closely related. I thought they were going to re-classify brasilensis as an acara.

Sounds like a pretty interseting mix. Keep us posted.

This is a picture of the eggs. Do they look fertile to you?

Sorry for the crappy picture quality. I wasn't using my normal cam and it was in the dark. I really hope these eggs turn out.

if the eggs are white then they are not fertilized and will probably fungus over. if they are a tannish color then they are fertilized. :)
