Geo. Brasiliensis male in breeding colors...

My Geo. brasiliensis male has been going nuts this evening, doing his best to get the female to mate with him. I've never seen him this colorful before. Just thought I'd share a few pictures. He's currently around 5.5-6" long.

I think I've had them for about 4 or 5 months. I got them around 2.5-3". So about 2-2.5 inches in 5 months. Seems a little slow for me, but I'm not real familiar with geophagus growth rates. They seem to have grown a lot more than they actually have. I guess they just put on a lot of bulk rather than a lot of length. My pair spawns about every 3 weeks or so. They usually get most of the fry to free swimming stage, but then they start getting picked off by other fish in the tank. There are just too many for the parents to worry about.
