anyone have success with the Geo Brasiliensis ??? If so do you have some pics? are these truly a semi-aggressive cichlid as i've been told?

I would mix them with other not-so-aggressive, yet not docile South American fish like chocolates, oscars, severums, or less aggressive Central Americans i.e. Nics, firemouths, robertsoni

I had a nice male in with 3 stingrays, an arowana, tigrunus, and a few clown loaches and never had any problems.

On the other side of the coin, I had a male kill a larger silver saum as well as a large royal pleco. They are deffinately rougher than anything else in the Geophagus family, but don't hold a candle to 'aggressive' central americans.

They really do best in small groups of 5 with maybe some cory cats and silver dollars.as for other cichlids i would go with acaras, sajicas.geo brasi's get big i have 8in group of 4 in a 75 and they take alot of space, but are realy sensitive so i would choose carefuly what tank mates to put in with them.

I keep mine in a community tank with no probs. I have a school of congo tetras, a krib, 3 angel fish, two geo altifrons, a pictus cat, a kissing gourami, 6 blackspot barbs, and 8 clown loaches. No probs, its not aggressive at all

I had one and sold it. They are not like other geos in that they need to be in groups. They become aggressive to eachother once they mature. they are big 12" for males in normal.

they will spawn young at 2-3". These guys can be bossy but don't normaly do harm. I have heard of some males being nasty but for the most part they are not that bad. They can hold their own with other large fish.

They LOVE to dig, they will make ditches every where and will move stuff around when they get big. They can up root plants.

They are hardy fish mine was a bit shy or more skitish I guess. SHe would eat from my hand but spooked easy.

here is mine at 4" she was the bahia red kind.

Oh yeah they are prone to HITH. mine was a rescue she had a bit of HITH and really beat up fins. But with clean water and good food she healed up fast.
