Is there possible to keep many different kind of geo together ? Here is my list of geo that I can possible get them in MFK from members sale thread and vendor have them for sale:
Red head geo and altifron, geo balzani and still searching for gymnogeophagus labiatus rio

My tank is a 180gallon with a 60gallon wet/dry filter. I will add a big driftwood with plant on it in the tank later this weekend. what is the max fish from the list above i can have in the tank ? Thanks

I keep a group of 6 geo red heads and 6 altifrons in a 125 with some plecos and cories. The red heads are still small but they all hang out together. One member on here advised me that once the red heads mature they can often be more aggressive and give the altifrons a problem, so far so good though.

That should be a really nice tank. Goodluck

ive always wanted to keep gymnogeophagus, however their care is quite different from geophagus because gymno need a cooling off period of much lower temps than the tropical geos would be comfortable. there are lots of species of geophagus and lots of gymnogeophagus, id figure out which you prefer and stick with it. for that size tank id recomend the larger more "showy" geos

I agree with brich999, you can't combine gymnos and geos permanently in the same tank. I've seen first hand gymnos lose their colors and die from being kept in tropical temperature for an extended period of time. Personally I'd keep a group of 6 G. altifrons, 6 G. sp. "Red Head Tapajos" and a severum or other large SA cichlid. Good luck with your tanks!
