Got these guys the other day, the dude in the shop tried to tell me they were Geophagus Steindachneri(red hump), but i said no way because they look nothing like them, i think they could be Geophagus Sp. Tapajos, but they have very little colour as of yet!

I'd guess Surniamensis as well.

geophagus abalios or geophagus altifrons.

Not a G. Surinamensis. The barring looks as though it splits, the mid lateral spot if rather large and the caudal pattern does look like it is becoming somewhat stripped. I would say G. Abalios IMO, I have a few about this size, maybe larger. Juvie geos can change allot from juvie to adult sizes so it's a challenge to ID young ones. In all honesty you need to grow them out a little before you'll will get a 100% ID on them.

Cute little ones none the less, go snatch up a few more so they are all the same species. It's hard to get larger ones of the same species later, trust me. (if you have a large tank) Geos do better in larger numbers.

cool, thanks for the info guys, having seen a few pics on google i would agree with G. Abalios. i'll be sure to get a few more!
