One of my lfs has this fish, its been there for a while. I can't figure out what it is. Balzani? Or is it some sort of short body....

I might have to. He's nice and big, like 7-8". I don't remember if he's $15 or $20. Is that a decent price for this size balzanii?

Do like I do and just tell her "Dear, that fish was already in the tank but he was always hiding so you never saw it". Then the wife usually says, "oh", and walks out of the room. Works for me everytime.

I usually go with "I caught him pool-hopping".

I actually snuck a 2.5' Dumeril's monitor home once and told the wife (then fiance) that I'd had him all along...she didn't buy it.

She caught on to that trick long ago. Plus, its hard to say that I've always had this monster, 8" geophagus and she just never noticed it .

She was only gone two weeks. The only fish I know that breed that quickly are guppies and convicts...

Not sure if I'll get it or not. I don't know if it will really fit in with either of my big tanks. Either it goes in with a bunch of gar, a datnoid, pike cichlid, and friedrichsthalli, or it goes with a pike cichlid community, festae, green terror, with motoro and dragon goby.

Both tanks are all ready pretty well stocked (some might say overstocked, but eh). I'll think about it .
