Geo Id

It looks like the have a preopercular bar (black line on jaw right before the gills), right? They still look young but I would stay G. brachybranchus. ID will be a lot easier when they get a bit bigger

I agree that they are most likely G. brachy, but the tail pattern is throwing me off a little. G. brachy is supposed to be more spotty with four vertical rows of small spots. It's also supposed to have 7-8 vertical bars.

Thanx guys, I had a feeling they werent rio brancos, but I only paid $40 for 5 of them at 9cm so its not that bad of a deal. Abarilot your correct they do hav a black line on their jaw and also their throat but only showed them when l first put them in the tank, and Peathenster they do have vertical bars but only showed them when they first went into the tank!!!!!

The second to last pic really looks like G. brachy. Can you take some more pics when the bars are more visible? It's easier when they are asleep - turn off the light for half an hour then whip out the camera.

Pretty sure you have G. Brachy. Just by looking at the lateral spot and double lateral spot on one with the geos kinda makes me lean more towards to G/brachy.
Im pretty sure the lateral spot for brachy's are more of a tear dropped shape to a circle shape, rather than the rio brancos with a smudge if you get me lol.
